BLADE ANGLE

The 20° blade angle matches the ergonomics of the ankle + hydrodynamic efficiency, so you get maximum thrust with minimal effort — which is exactly what a freediver wants for energy conservation.

RAILS/RIBS

Color of rails or ribs are already fixed and cannot be changed anymore. If in case you want other rail colors this is upon request and and will take around 1-2 weeks availability. Colors available: Black, White, Red, Pink, Blue.

Leaderfins “Long Wings”

• The Long Wings are one variant of Leaderfins’ foot-pockets. The others are Forza and Extended. 

• They are made of soft thermoplastic rubber (TPR). 

• In general thickness:
    • main body approx 2.0 mm (versus ~2.5 mm for Forza) 
    • instep ~3.1 mm 
    • ankle border ~4.0 mm 
    • reinforced/toed tip around 3.0 mm 
    • a very thick sole (~1 cm) to ensure a rigid base underfoot and good force transfer to the blade. 

• Weight: for size EU 43-44, the Long Wings pocket is about 560 grams per pair (without blade). More than Forza in that size. 

• Rails / longherons (lateral rails) are much longer than Forza’s. From the end of the foot-pocket to the tip of the lateral rails is ~32.5 cm. The rails are thick in the beginning (where they meet the foot-pocket) ~4 cm height, tapering towards the tip (~2.5 cm) 

• One limitation: Long Wings do not come in very small sizes like 31-32 EU.

What are the advantages of Long Wings

1. Better force transfer / stiffness via longer rails
   Because the lateral rails are longer, they give more support to the blade along a longer length, helping reduce twisting or loss of blade alignment. That means better efficiency, especially for bigger blades or more powerful kicks.

2. More rigidity / control
   The longer rails, combined with thicker or reinforced areas of the pocket, help provide a more stable platform so that more of the leg’s power is transferred to the blade, not lost flexing in the pocket.

3. Better “tracking” of the blade
   With longer rails, the blade is aligned and guided over more length, which helps in maintaining a proper stroke and avoiding side-to-side flutter or misalignment, particularly under load.

4. Helpful for strong freedivers / big blades
   If you use stiffer blades (carbon, pure carbon) or longer blades, the added support from the long wings would help you manage load better.

DIMENSION

Fins dimensions with foot pockets size 43-44 ~ 95 cm long x 20 cm wide.

Pair of fins weighs vary depending on your size i.e ~ 1.8 kg (Soft stiffness, FORZA foot pocket size 43-44).

Choosing the right blade stiffness for freediving fins really depends on personal preference and diving style. However, as a general guide, we provide recommended stiffness levels based on body weight to help divers choose the most suitable option:
